The previous owner had painted even the rubber teething rails, so we sandblasted it and bought new rubber rails. Now the railing is off and he jumps in it with no problems. Even Cole can hang out there without worry. Used is good if you are handy and can fix it to your own standards. They grow so fast and before you know it Sophia will be in a toddler bed and running around jumping in bed with you and Kurt.
