I believed it at the time. She was so happy that I said that, I thought it was kind of weird. I asked why she didn't sing more, and she told me my dad didn't like her singing... I thought that was kind of weird, too. Then I grew up and learned that my mother is tone deaf. I wonder what I was thinking when I told her she sang pretty. (I guess I'm a little shit, too.)
