55 Flash Fiction Friday: Survival

“You survived it didn’t you?” They say, “So it couldn’t be that bad.”
Maybe the bad times are dwelt on too much. However, unless we’re speaking of car accidents mere survival seems like such a low bar to set. Sure, there were good times. I do remember them, but the bad was much more far-reaching.

    Knowing what this is about, I think I’m going to have to institute the same rule that my sister has for Jesse. You know the rule, right?

    But in all seriousness, you’re right. If “mere survival” was the point of life, then why bother? We are all going to end in failure. There must be more to it.
