First Birthday Cake

I made two cakes. One had walnuts and frosting and one without. I know some will say that a frosting laden cake coupled with a baby would have yielded much more exciting photos, but Sophia is very gentle, dainty, and delicate. She of course had some crumbs in her lap, but really that was the extent of her mess. She barely had anything on the floor at all and she doesn’t rub food into her hair. In this regard she’s an incredibly boring baby, which I’m very grateful for because the little mess that she made was making me twitch.

Aw, so cute! Happy Birthday (again!) to little Sophia.

She really is a neat eater! That’s pretty impressive. Alex didn’t get that messy eating his cake, either, but more so than Sophia!

What a sweetie. You must be so proud :)

I love the pic of Sophia looking sideways with her piece of cake. We gave Chloe a Cookie Monster cupcake instead of a whole cake to smash. She looked really happy grabbing the top off and dragging her fist to her mouth. Until she tasted it. Happy to disgusted in 2.5 seconds. Then she desperately scraped the icing on her little table trying to free herself of the stuff. We got it on the video of the digital camera and if I need a little smile I watch it again. We tried some too, but we should have listened to Chloe. Yuck! Hope Sophia’s special day went better after the Sears incident.
