55 Flash Fiction Friday: Palin Rape Tax

During the Vice Presidential debate Palin said, “As mayor, every year I was in office I did reduce taxes.” Personal taxes were lowered, but recently adopted sales tax raised another half a percent. She hired people with low spending in mind, allowing police to charge rape victims for evidence tests, lessening the burden on taxpayers.

  1. You’ll appreciate the new word I coined last night probably more than anybody I know: “Palin-Drone”. No matter how she says it, it always sounds the same.

Oddly enough (or perhaps not) I don’t object to sales tax as an alternative to income tax. First of all because it’s the most equitable method of taxation I can think of. You can shelter income, hide it away from prying eyes… but when you buy something and the tax is charge on the spot, there’s no hiding it. Second, it taxes consumption not earnings. Which encourages saving, which… well you get the idea.

But all that aside I still don’t want this wretched woman within 500 miles of the White House. Much less living there!

Thanks for putting this out there. It’s (as far as I know) objective, factual and lets the reader draw his/her own conclusions. I only wish it was reaching a wider audience.

    Love the title too!

  2. Mojo – OH I like “Palin-Drone”! Can I use that in my next 55? All my 55′s for this month are about voting, republicans, health care, Palin if you haven’t noticed. ;-)

I don’t object to sales tax either. I was just pointing out that Palin did raise taxes. As long as food or other necessity isn’t taxed I think a tax on goods is fine.

If you want this to reach a wider audience feel free to add it to stumble upon or email the link out. Really, I don’t mind. ;-)

  3. signgurl – not yet, but I can’t wait. Not just for all the political ads to end, but to know who wins. Obama is clearly in the lead in the polls, but I’m such a conspiracy theorist I fear the election will be rigged (again) or something.
