She squeaks delighted to see him run under the chairs and beds and giggles when he leaps to high places. She follows him butt-scooting wherever she can. She loves the cat. Too bad the feeling isn’t mutual. He looks up at me as if to say, “Would you keep that damn pink squishy thing AWAY!”

I removed the wastebasket, the toilet paper holder, and the plunger. I placed a blanket with toys on the floor, and I ensured there was nothing she could get into. Well, she showed me. Mid-shower I peered from around the curtain to see that she had the cap to the toilet bolt in her mouth.

I got a taste of life as a single working mother during your nine-day motorcycle trip. You spent last weekend getting ready for a track day, but on my one evening off, I still have to come to the rescue. You say you were doing me a favor, but I think you have it backwards.

I saw a recipe by Marie over at Through My Eyes for Wild Rice with Raisins and Pinenuts. It looked great (she took a bunch of pictures, step by step). I don’t like wild rice (it’s a little gamey for my taste) and the quantity was a bit much for just Kurt and I, so I doctored it a bit.
Not so Wild Rice With Raisins and Pinenuts:
2 Tblspn. Butter
½ small onion - chopped
1 apple - chopped
¼ cup raisins
½ lemon –juiced
¼ cup pine nuts
1 cup Basmati Rice - already cooked (See bottom of this post for directions)
¼ cup chopped cilantro
Sauté onion in butter until it’s translucent. Add chopped apple and let it cook for a couple minutes. Juice the ½ lemon and add raisins. Then add the rice. Make sure to stir so the rice doesn’t burn. Add the pine nuts, and then the cilantro.
Basmati Rice:
1 ¼ cup water
1 cup Basmati Rice
(Pan with a lid)
Bring water to a boil then add rice. Turn heat down to simmer and with the lid on the pot cook for about 15 minutes or until all of the water has been absorbed. Let stand for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork before serving (or in this case, before adding to the other pan).
I fear ‘Unicorn Boy’ indeed passed on his unicorn genes. Two weeks ago, Kurt watched the sleepy, unwilling to take a nap, Sophia. She was sitting, which she is quite capable of, when she quite suddenly flopped forward hitting her head on the hardwood floor. She didn’t bother bringing her arms out to stop herself.

“You don’t have to have sex with every man you meet.” I didn’t bother explaining that spending the night doesn’t necessarily equate to sex. “Why not?” I asked, “I enjoy it.” The notion shocked her which in turn shocked me. There are women that only have sex out of marital obligation? How sad is that?
