Jardine Crib Rebate

We received our crib rebate. It came out to $219, which is awesome since we only paid $125 for the old crib with a mattress. We (I) found a crib at Babies ‘R’ Us that I (we) really like. It was marked down to $299 with an added twenty percent off. Subtract the amount of the voucher and add it to what *we* originally paid and we have a brand new crib with old mattress for $145. This crib doesn’t have the drop down side like the other one did and I’m glad because I kept forgetting to pull it up at night and it didn’t seem like a good mechanism for a crib. The old crib had a spot at the bottom that you push with your leg in order to scoot the drop-down front down the plastic tracks. The sliding side is held in the down position by two little rubber stoppers. They still sell that style, that mechanism is not the aspect which caused the recall. But as someone who used it for ten months, I decided I don’t like it. The new crib is the “lifetime” convertible type. It’ll switch to a toddler daybed and then a regular twin-size bed. It’s GORGEOUS!

I know, you can see a jean butt in there and you want a close-up of what’s inside the crib…

Butt Scooting Baby

My baby scoots her butt on the floor like a dog! Actually, I haven’t seen her do it. All I know is that on Friday, I was at my computer and I put her on the floor at one end of the room with the boppy pillow behind her. Not that she really needs it, but just in case she decides to flop backwards, it’s there. The next thing I knew she has moved from that end of the room, over there. *points away from herself as if you can see* And she was sitting right next to me looking up with her big green eyes as if to say, “Momma I’m hungry.” I know she’s not crawling. She does sleep on her side or tummy from time to time and will occasionally be sitting up in her crib when I come to get her. I know she could physically crawl, but she’s not quite there yet. She’s butt scootin’ and I know it.

Pregnancy updates

So, what have I been doing for the past week? On Wednesday the 15th, I noticed my first stretch marks. I’m so disappointed, but they aren’t on my belly. They’re on my lower back/the very top of my butt. I would say it’s just below my waistline, but it’s hard to tell where that is/was these days. I think the stretch marks are from my hips spreading, maybe? Anyway, they’re there and they’re ugly red streaks.

On Friday the 17th, I had my monthly doctor appointment. Sophia’s heart rate is still the same, and she’s kicking/moving a lot. I’ve gained five pounds since my last appointment. For those of you who have lost track that means I now weigh in at 165 pounds. I’ve been warned that at my next appointment I get to have a vaginal and anal swab for strep – oh joyous days. On the up side, he gave me some pills to help with the heartburn – YAY!! My next appointment will be next week and after that, I’ll have weekly appointments. I’m so scared and excited, mostly scared.
