Little Milk Fountain

Last night Sophia’s fever spiked to 102. We called a 24hr nurse line. Kurt made the call and I was nursing Sophia at the time. He gave a little info and then hung up. What the? “They’ll call back.” In between that time Sophia finished nursing and promptly threw up everything she just ate all over me. Ever had a milk bath?…In your own milk?

The nurse called back and basically said not to treat the low 100.4 fever (oops) but to go ahead and give Sophia another dose of Tylenol because it had been seven hours since the last dose and she was now at 102. She gave us some tips on how to make Sophia a little more comfortable, like how to clear her nose with saline, and I guess a little humidifier is next on our things to purchase for baby list.

She threw up on me one more time last night. I had to change her and myself one more time and then try to sleep knowing I had baby puke all over my stomach and legs. ACK!

This morning I noticed another tooth on the little nipple gnasher. This one is on top. That’s probably what caused the low grade fever all day yesterday. Oh and that “pink eye” was gone the next day. That doctor was an idiot. Whoever heard of pink eye clearing up in a day? I was right, her sinuses were just backed up. Stupid doctor.

Sick Baby

Last night Sophia had a fever of 100.4. I gave her Tylenol which she promptly spit out. I don’t know if she spit it all out or if she actually got some in so I didn’t do another dose. An hour later I was still awake so I took her temperature again. Same temp. :( This morning she still had the same temperature. So far I’ve given her two doses of Tylenol and she has had two naps – both under twenty minutes. I don’t think I’ve taken a temperature under or over 100.4 today. She is working on her third nap and I’m debating on weather I should shower or try and get some sleep. Most likely I’ll keep debating with myself and neither will get done.

Snot Face

Sunday night was hell as you can see by my teething post, although it didn’t start that way. After eating some lunch, she played with her toys. I didn’t get all of her lunch off her face. Damnit. Then she stood around for a bit. She did a few push-ups (not really). When dinnertime came around, I let her have her own spoon which she promptly used to gag herself. I attempted to feed her sweet potatoes and rice cereal, but it looks as if I actually painted the baby with them. I think she would have received more nutritionally if I had just skipped her mouth and fed her ears. Afterwards she needed a bath.

At six thirty, I sent the darling to bed. I thought she went to sleep. At seven, it sounded like she was stirring. By seven fifteen, it was hard to ignore the “stirring”. I lost count of how many times I picked her up and rocked her to sleep, just to have her wake up again when I lay her in the crib. I even tried to put her in her swing because I learned in one of the many mom class things that I went to, that when it is teething time, laying her on her back can cause more pressure in the ears. That was a no-go! I’m sure it wasn’t a bellyache because I didn’t hear any tummy rumblings. When it was finally over there was no belching or fart before or after the calm. She merely screamed and cried for FIVE HOURS! I tried Baby Orajel, which I had praised in the past, but that did NOTHING. Tylenol didn’t do anything either. Both of those companies can KISS MY ASS!! *Except when I may need to administer Tylenol to reduce a fever, other than that, fucking useless! Here is what she looked like three hours into the crying serenade with two hours to go…
Teething

She did fine at daycare on Monday, though she took three long naps instead of two. I arrived there to pick her up just after her third nap. They were about to call me because she woke up with snot in one eye and they thought it might be pink eye. This morning she looked like this…
Snot face extraordinaire

See that stuff in her eyes?…it’s snot. Not snot rubbed into the eyes, but sinuses so backed up snot is coming out the eyes! Kurt has been calling her the human petree dish. I call her Snot Face.

Sick while pregnant

Yesterday I could feel a cold coming on and I was ticked off. I know who gave it to me. A guy at work came in all last week while he had walking pneumonia! So today I have a full blown cold and I’m at home sick and pregnant on a very nice sunny day. I made an appointment with my doctor under the demands of Kurt and one of my co-workers. The doctor said I have a regular cold and it should run it’s course in two or three days. He said to give him a call if I get a fever or if my cold takes a turn for the worse after two-three days. I can take Tylenol, Benadryl to help me sleep, and Afrin if my sinuses get really bad. Other than that I get to suffer through it. Oh and drink lots of liquids – yadda yadda yadda. The baby is fine. Her heart is still beating strong. I told him that I haven’t felt her much since yesterday and he said that they tend to lay low when mom’s get sick, so I might not feel her much until I get better.
